SOUTH DOWNS
NATIONAL PARK INQUIRY
HDA represented West Sussex County Council and Chichester District Council at the public inquiry, setting out that National Parks each have a strong and distinctive character. HDA argued that the areas of the Weald included in the draft National Park boundary, are not the Downs, nor are they suited to being part of a National Park.
The Inspector agreed with HDA, with many references to its evidence - if the South Downs are to be a National Park, it should include just those iconic, highly distinctive downland landscapes.
