HDA was appointed to prepare the landscape and ecological proposals for restoration of this 65 hectare limestone quarry and colliery near Worksop on the Derbyshire/ Nottinghamshire border.
The site is a County Wildlife Site, valued for its calcareous grassland and wetland features.
The restoration design incorporated all of the most valued wetland features and some of the calcareous grassland. Extensive habitat translocation and creation is proposed as a feasible strategy for mitigating the unavoidable impact due to landfill and restoration.
