As part of an expansion of Aylesbury town centre and the regeneration of a former industrial site, HDA's landscape and ecology teams are preparing proposals for the naturalisation of the Bear Brook. HDA was approached to prepare proposals for the diversion of the Brook to enable the construction of a theatre. A temporary diversion of the brook to enable theatre work to commence is nearing completion.
Naturalisation of the brook will include enhanced wildlife habitat, increased water flow and the introduction of reed beds. It is envisaged that the naturalisation of the brook will be completed in 2008.
