HDA recently persuaded Natural England to withdraw their objection to redevelopment of a former school near Midhurst, West Sussex.
Initial surveys of the site indicated a high level of bat interest, and Natural England objected on the basis of potential impacts. However, following production of a Bat Mitigation Strategy, based on a 'worst-case scenario' for bat populations within the site, the objection was withdrawn.
The subsequent planning permission is conditional upon further bat surveys.
